The election of members of the General Definitory for the 2021-2027 term took place on Thursday morning. The newly-elected General Definitors are: Brother Victor Quematcha (Africa), Brother John Wong (Asia-Oceania), Brother Jimmy Zammit (Anglophone), Brother Albert Schmucki (Central Europe), Brother Cesare Vaiani (Iberia-Italy-Albania), Brother Konrad Cholewa (Slavic), and Brothers Joaquin Excheverry and Cesar Kulkamp (Latin America).
The Assembly met in the afternoon for a presentation and clarifications by Brother Aidan McGrath on proposed revisions to the General Statutes. Specific articles examined included the structure and government of the Order, new missions, administrative matters, and the protection of minors and vulnerable adults. In particular, a clarification was made that the term of vulnerable adults is based on the 2019 Motu Proprio, Vos Estis Lux Mundi. A vote was taken for the passing of these proposals into the law of the Order.
At the end of the afternoon session, the brothers who were present at the Chapter proceeded to the Basilica of St John Lateran for Evening Prayer, which was presided by Br. Isauro Covili Linfati, the new Vicar General of the Order. This was followed by a buffet dinner in the courtyard of the Basilica Vicariate.
